[He seems to have a sense of humor. Whistler is optimistic about this one]
Well let me narrow it down for ya. Might you be the Chris that Miss Maketh would send a man to with questions about the programing of this little device we all have?
[That is definitely a thing Chris has, although his has kind of gone toward the morbid side a bit after everything at home and being in Hadriel so long.]
Okay, yeah, probably a fair bet that's me. What's up?
M&M [clearly code for Miss Maketh but he'd appreciate it if you don't tell her about it] has me fiddling with a few things and we wanted to see if there was a way to tie in the phone applications.
But I'm not familiar enough with this thing to know what makes it tick.
That'd depend on how the sensors and alarms and whatever work. Since the phones run on some sort of weird god-magic, they talk to each other fine but it's different than like... Picking up signals through radio or Bluetooth or something. Whatever physical thing you're working with has to be able to talk to the phones for an app to control them, if that makes sense.
Depending on what it is, you might have better luck wiring up a remote from junk in the shops or something, but I'm not an engineer.
[So he only knows the basic idea on how to do that.]
I was afraid of that. This thing doesn't seem like any phone i've ever tinkered with before.
You see I can build a remote easily enough if I've got some odds and ends to work with but the whole 'going to the stores' part is what is going to be tricky.
Thanks, but it's really not that big a deal. I'm out at the shops a lot and it's not like I've got a lot of use for the stuff you need, so I might as well pass it along if I find it.

[Really, he's surprised there haven't been any others yet. It's not like Chris is a rare name.]

[He totally won't tell her, even if he'd love to see her face.]
And okay, sure. I can probably tell you if it's possible, at least in theory; what are you working on?
Re: [Text]
She's requested some sensors and alarms. Simple enough but she'd like it remote controlled if possible.

I can uh, see what I can find next few times I'm out? If I collect anything that looks like it'll be usable for a remote, I'll pass it along to you.

Either way, whatever useful stuff I find is yours.
[So better get used to the generosity thing, basically.]
