Chris is a little worried about the idea of trying to fake out the Null, but considering they're already about murdering everyone it's hard to be too concerned about that.
And if they can pull it off after all, it'll not only benefit Gren's appearance of loyalty but will get them access to one of the god-killing weapons. Taking the attention of a potential murderer off of himself is also a side benefit.
